NFL Combine: Which O-lineman ran fastest on Sunday?

Five offensive linemen broke five seconds in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine on Sunday.

Georgia tackle Broderick Jones had the fastest showing at 4.97 seconds after weighing in at 311 pounds.

BYU tackle Blake Freeland (302 pounds) and Oklahoma tackle Anton Harrison (315 pounds) clocked in at 4.98 seconds, and Utah tackle Braeden Daniels (294 pounds) and Clemson guard Jordan McFadden (303 pounds) had 4.99-second times at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Freeland had the fastest time over the first 10 yards at 1.68 seconds.

Two players with Alabama football roots ran the 40-yard dash with the offensive-line prospects on Sunday:

· Troy center Jake Andrews (Stanhope Elmore) ran the 40 in 5.15 seconds.

· Alabama guard Emil Ekiyor Jr. did not run.

· Alabama tackle Tyler Steen did not run.

· Kentucky guard Tashawn Manning ran the 40 in 5.34 seconds. Manning played at Auburn from 2018 through 2021.

Six other SEC offensive linemen ran the 40-yard dash on Sunday:

· LSU’s Anthony Bradford: 5.08 seconds

· Ole Miss guard Nick Broeker: 5.27 seconds

· South Carolina guard Jovaughn Gwyn: 5.12 seconds

· Florida guard O’Cyrus Torrence: 5.31 seconds

· Arkansas center Ricky Stromberg: 5.26 seconds

· Tennessee tackle Darnell Wright: 5.01 seconds

In the other measured drills on Sunday, the leaders among the offensive linemen included:

Vertical jump: BYU tackle Blake Freeland had the best vertical jump by an offensive lineman in what is considered the modern history of the NFL Scouting Combine (since 2003) when he got 37 inches off the ground. That surpassed the 36.5 inches by Iowa tackle Tristan Wirfs at the 2020 combine. Freeland also tied the record for the best vertical jump by a player weighing at least 300 pounds. LSU defensive tackle Al Woods also hit 37 inches at 309 pounds in 2010. On Sunday, Northwestern tackle Peter Skoronski was the runner-up to Freeland at 34.5 inches, with UCLA guard Jon Gaines II and Arkansas center Ricky Stromberg tied for third at 32.5 inches.

Broad jump: BYU tackle Blake Freeland became the fifth 300-pounder in the combine’s modern history to clear 120 inches in the broad jump with a 10-foot effort on Sunday. Northwestern tackle Peter Skoronski placed second at 115 inches, with UCLA guard Jon Gaines II and Tennessee tackle Darnell Wright tied for third at 114 inches.
