NFL Combine: How did the state players perform Saturday?
Before the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, one prospect who had played at Alabama had a broad jump of more than 11 feet at the annual event in this century.
Wide receiver Julio Jones cleared 11 feet, 3 inches at the 2011 combine.
But on Friday and Saturday, a prospect who had played at Alabama turned in a broad jump of 11 feet, 1 inch at the combine.
On Friday, Oregon cornerback Khyree Jackson went 11 feet, 1 inch. On Saturday, Crimson Tide wide receiver Jermaine Burton hit 11 feet, 1 inch in the broad jump.
Jackson played at Alabama in the 2021 and 2022 seasons before transferring to Oregon for the 2023 campaign.
The broad jumps are tied for the fourth-best by prospects who played at Alabama high schools and colleges in this century. Auburn wide receiver Darius Slayton equaled Jones’ 11 feet, 3 inches in 2019, and Auburn fullback Carl Stewart cleared 11 feet, 2 inches in 2008.
Auburn safety Jaylin Simpson also went 11 feet, 1 inch in the broad jump on Friday at the combine.
Maryland cornerback Jakorian Bennett from McGill-Toolen and Florida outside linebacker Jeremiah Moon from Hoover had 11 foot, 1 inch broad jumps, too. Moon jumped in 2022, and Bennett jumped in 2023.
On Saturday, quarterbacks, wide receivers and running backs were on the field at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for the NFL Scouting Combine, and four prospects who played at Alabama high schools and colleges participated:
· UCF wide receiver Javon Baker (Alabama): 4.54-second 40-yard dash, 37-inch vertical jump and 10-foot, 1-inch broad jump. Baker did not participate in the three-cone drill and the shuttle run.
· Alabama wide receiver Jermaine Burton: 4.45-second 40-yard dash, 38.5-inch vertical jump and 11-foot, 1-inch broad jump (third among wide receivers). Burton did not participate in the three-cone drill and the shuttle run.

· Troy running back Kimani Vidal: 4.46-second 40-yard dash, 37.5-inch vertical jump and 10-foot broad jump. Vidal did not participate in the three-cone drill and the shuttle run.
The players will have the opportunity to participate in the bench press on Sunday morning. In the bench press, each player does as many repetitions as he can with a 225-pound weight bar.
