New York Giants release former Alabama wide receiver

Sims spent the first five weeks of the 2023 season with the Giants without playing. Each NFL team can elevate two practice-squad members to active status for each game.

In 2022 during his fifth season with the Washington Commanders, Sims had eight receptions for 89 yards while on the field for 328 offensive snaps and 244 special-teams plays in 17 game.

Sims made Washington’s regular-season roster as an undrafted rookie in 2018, but the former Alabama wide receiver sustained a season-ending injury on the opening kickoff of the first game. Sims came back to catch 57 passes for 804 yards and three touchdowns in 54 games over the next four seasons before signing with the Las Vegas Raiders as a free agent in March.

Las Vegas released Sims when it reduced its preseason roster to the regular-season limit of 53 active players on Aug. 29.
