A man and a woman from New York have been arrested in the theft of thousands of dollars of items from an Alabaster beauty store.

Alabaster police on Friday said Jennifer Hurtado, 27, of Woodhaven, N.Y., and Pedro Torres Hernandes, 28, of Queens, N.Y., are charged with first-degree theft of property.

Officers responded Wednesday to Ulta Beauty on a shoplifting call.

Witnesses were able to give police a description of the suspects and their vehicle. Officers were able to stop the pair as they were trying to leave the shopping center.

Authorities said they recovered more than $2,500 in Ulta products from the vehicle.

Hurtado and Torres Hernandez are in the Shelby County Jail with bond set at $20,000.
