New Yearâs Eve 2023 forecast: Better bundle up
New Year’s Eve is coming up this weekend, on Sunday. And the forecast calls for temperatures that could be a degree or two below average.
The National Weather Service is forecasting a dry start to 2024 for the entire state.
Temperatures on Sunday, Dec. 31, will top out in the 50s or low 60s across Alabama. Here is the high temperature forecast for Sunday:
Expect the mercury to drop after sunset. By midnight the forecast has temperatures in the upper 30s to low 40s statewide (see the map at the top of this post).
Overnight lows from Sunday night into the first morning of 2024 will drop even further and be in the upper 20s or 30s statewide:
Temperatures for New Year’s Eve overall are expected to be a bit below average, according to data from the National Weather Service.

* Selma: High 59; low 37
* Talladega: High 54; low 32
* Tuscaloosa: High 56; low 37
Highs expected on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, are forecast to be a little bit cooler than Sunday, according to the weather service:
