A New Market man was killed in a crash that occurred Friday south of unincorporated Danville in Morgan County.

Benson Sergiles, 42, was killed when the 2020 Chevrolet Trax in which he was a passenger was struck by a truck driven by 36-year-old Jeffery Battle Jr. of Birmingham. The crash occurred on Alabama 157, about two miles south of Danville.

Sergiles was transported to Huntsville Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Lourdie Sergiles, 38, also of New Market, was transported to Huntsville Hospital for medical treatment.

No other information was provided as the crash continues to be investigated by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division.
