Discount grocery chain Aldi is expanding its footprint in the new year.

Aldi currently has just over 2,459 locations in 39 states and territories, with a strong presence in the eastern half of the country.

Earlier this year, the German chain announced it was acquiring more than 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarkets as part of its expansion, including stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi. The deal nearly doubled its presence in Alabama to almost 80 locations and added 28 stores in Louisiana, six in Mississippi, 25 in Georgia and 299 in Florida, the site of most of the Harveys locations.

All of the Aldi openings in Alabama listed on the chain’s website are rebrands of existing Winn-Dixie stores.
