Nearly 42 pounds of fentanyl, heroin and cocaine seized in west Birmingham drug raids
Drug raids in western Birmingham turned up massive amounts of illegal drugs.
The Birmingham Police Department’s Vice and Narcotics Unit, along with tactical officers, carried out search warrants at homes in the 3800 block of Seventh Avenue and the 4700 block of Sixth Avenue, both in Wylam.
Investigators confiscated 22.8 pounds of fentanyl, 9 ½ pounds of heroin, 8.6 pounds of cocaine, 216 grams of marijuana and four MDMA pills, said Officer Truman Fitzgerald. One gun was also recovered, said Officer Truman Fitzgerald.
The fentanyl alone has a street value of nearly $2 million.
Authorities also seized two vehicles and $136,016 in cash.
Charles Williams, 37, is charged with trafficking in heroin, trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in fentanyl, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Williams was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on April 29, and remains held without bond.
