Oxford’s Jaylen Alexander got the ball rolling for his team early on the offensive end and carried them to the finish line as the third-ranked Yellow Jackets surged to a 60-45 victory over No. 2 Mountain Brook in Monday’s Class 6A Northeast Regional semifinal at Jacksonville State’s Pete Mathews Coliseum.

Oxford (24-6) trailed 4-0 early but battled to a 12-all tie within the first two minutes of the opening period, fueled by a pair of 3-pointers from Alexander. Jaylin Taylor knocked down his own triple to give the Yellow Jackets their first lead of the game and Oxford carried a 17-16 lead into the second.
