The most recent NBA season was full of surprises, as young stars were dominant in the Western Conference. Anthony Edwards from the Minnesota Timberwolves carried the team to their first Western Conference Finals appearance since 2004. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander helped the Oklahoma City Thunder obtain the first seed in the Western Conference and won a playoff series.
With so much young talent performing at a high level in the NBA, the upcoming NBA Draft will be exciting to watch. There are many players in this year’s draft that have showcased elite potential, including French star Alex Sarr. He is an incredible prospect that can score and rebound at a high level. Sarr is also seven feet tall, making him a defensive threat in the post.
Due to Sarr’s stature and French ties, he has been compared to last year’s first overall pick Victor Wembanyama. Interestingly, the two athletes could play for the San Antonio Spurs next season, if the team can draft Sarr with their fourth overall pick.
Another key player in this year’s NBA Draft is center Zach Edey, who guided Purdue to the national championship last season. Edey played four collegiate seasons and dominated the competition throughout his career. It will be interesting to see where Edey is picked because of the amount of talent in this year’s draft.
The SEC also has a couple of top players that may go early in the first round, including Kentucky’s Reed Sheppard and Tennessee’s Dalton Knecht.
