“To accelerate our progress delivering the experiences that will define the future of retail, we must sharpen our focus,” a memo sent to Walmart’s office-based associates on Wednesday noted, according to a report in Newsweek.

Walmart has roughly 1.6 million employees in the U.S. The cuts will take place at the company’s Bentonville, Arkansas headquarters and other offices.
