Nate Oats: All remaining Alabama basketball players traveling to next game

Alabama men’s basketball will have its full remaining roster available and will play Tuesday night’s game at Vanderbilt, coach Nate Oats said Monday.

The game will come two days after reserve forward Darius Miles, who was already ruled out for the season because of an ankle injury, was arrested.

Miles, 21, was charged with capital murder along with Michael Lynn Davis, 20, of Maryland in the early Sunday morning shooting death of 23-year old Jamea Harris of Birmingham.

Oats was asked Monday during a brief news conference whether any other players had any involvement in the incident.

“All of us got together last night. It’s an ongoing investigation,” Oats responded. “Our entire remaining team is traveling to Nashville and will be available to play in the game tomorrow.”

Miles participated in only six of Alabama’s first 17 games, missing time because of an ankle injury and later a personal matter that Oats said Monday was unrelated to Sunday’s incident.

Miles was “removed from campus” by Alabama after his arrest and is no longer a member of the basketball team. That leaves Alabama with 11 scholarship players, including guard Nimari Burnett, who is expected to miss at least another week after December wrist surgery.
