NASCAR driver suspended indefinitely after woman’s alleged assault reportedly arrested again

NASCAR driver Cody Ware, suspended indefinitely after being charged with assault in North Carolina, now reportedly faces more charges.

PennLive.com reported Ware, 27, was arrested Monday in connection to an event that took place on April 3. He has reportedly been charged with misdemeanor assault on a female and felony assault by strangulation inflicting serious injury.

Now, WCNC is reporting that Ware is “facing new charges for misdemeanor assault and communicating threats in addition to the charges for the assault on a female and assault by strangulation inflicting serious injuries.”

Ware turned himself in at the Iredell County Detention Center on Friday, Iredell Free News reported.

“A magistrate issued a $5,000 bond on the new charges. As a condition of his release, Ware is required to wear an electronic ankle monitor,” that report stated.

Zane Smith will replace Ware and drive the No. 51 Ford this weekend for Rick Ware Racing at Martinsville Speedway, The Associated Press reported.

Ware didn’t participate in recent events at Bristol Motor Speedway with Rick Ware Racing, which is owned by the driver’s father, AP reported.
