A Muscle Shoals man has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman that occurred at a Tuscumbia plant.

WHNT is reporting that Victor Manuel Funez Cruz, 59, has been charged with murder in the death of Edith Margarita Martinez, 59, Tuesday. He is being held in the Colbert County Jail without bond.

Tuscumbia Police Chief Tony Logan told the station the incident happened on Tuesday at McVantage Packaging on U.S. 43.

Officers arriving at the business just before 1 p.m. found Martinez lying on the ground dead with “severe head injuries.”

Police say they believe the incident was domestic and that both Cruz and Martinez work at the plant but in different areas.
