MS-13 gang member arrested on federal charges, Mobile County Sheriff’s Office says

An MS-13 gang member was arrested in a Mobile County Sheriff’s Office operation, the agency said.

MCSO said on Wednesday it assisted Homeland Security Investigations in the arrest of Orlando Rizo-Perez who is undocumented.

Rizo-Perez had federal arrest warrants related to narcotics trafficking and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug crime. The charges originated from alleged activity in the Western District of Virginia, the sheriff’s office said.

On Jan. 20 President Donald Trump signed an executive order to identify certain gangs and drug cartels as terrorist organizations.

On Feb. 20, the Department of State designated MS-13 as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.
