Motorcyclist killed in morning crash following police pursuit in south Alabama

A 34-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a Friday morning crash following a law enforcement pursuit.

Alabama State Troopers identified the victim as Johenam Moises Fernandez Alvarez. He lived in Ashford.

The crash happened at 12:09 a.m. on Houston County Road 55 near Alabama 52. That location is 12 miles east of Dothan.

Senior Trooper Joshua Thompson said before the crash happened, Ferandez Alverez was being pursuit by Houston County sheriff’s deputies. No additional details were released.

Thompson said the motorcycle left the road and struck a raised curb, two parked vehicles and a tree. Fernandez Alvarez was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead on the scene.

The investigation is ongoing by troopers.
