A 50-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash while he was fleeing from a Walker County sheriff’s deputy.
The crash happened Friday, Feb. 16. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency announced the death on Thursday, Feb. 22.
The fatality victim has been identified as Anthony R. Miles. He lived in Jasper.
Trooper Cpl. Reginal King said the wreck happened at 1 a.m. that Friday on Interstate 22, about 10 miles west of Jasper.
Miles was driving a 2006 Suzuki GSX R1000 motorcycle when he lost control and was thrown from the motorcycle.
“Miles was attempting to elude a Walker County sheriff’s deputy at the time of the crash,’’ King said.
After the initial crash, King said, a Dodge Charger driven by a Walker County deputy struck the motorcycle. Miles had already been ejected when the motorcycle was struck.
Miles was pronounced dead on the scene.
