A motorcyclist was killed in a crash at a Birmingham intersection.

The wreck happened at 1:12 p.m. Monday at 59th Street North and First Avenue North.

Authorities said Phillip Maurice Blakney Jr., 40, collided with another vehicle at the intersection.

He was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:48 p.m., according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

Birmingham police are investigating the deadly crash.
