A motorcyclist was killed Thursday afternoon in a collision with a van in Shelby County.

Alabama State Troopers identified the fatality victim as Tyler A. Harrod. He was 30 and lived in Sylacauga.

The wreck happened at 2:11 p.m. on Alabama 25, less than one mile west of Vandiver.

Senior Trooper Vu Quang said Herrod was driving a Harley-Davidson FXST that hit a Chevrolet Express 2500 van driven by 53-year-old John D. Jackson of Pell City.

Herrod was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead on the scene.
