Motorcyclist killed after vehicle strikes embankment in southwest Alabama

A 52-year-old man died Tuesday morning after the motorcycle he was riding left the road and struck an embankment in southwest Alabama, authorities said.

Benjie A. Covington, 52, of McIntosh, was riding a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when the vehicle left John Johnston Road in Washington County and struck an embankment around 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, said Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Senior Trooper Anna Peoples.

Covington was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck about four miles west of McIntosh, said Peoples.

Further information was unavailable as state troopers continued to investigate the wreck.
