Mother, son wounded in North Alabama residential shooting

Marshall County authorities are investigating after officers found a mother and her son shot following a disturbance.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and Grant police responded at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday to a call on Payton Lane following a shooting call.

They arrived to find a 79-year-old woman lying in the front yard, and a 60-year-old man inside the residence with a single gunshot wound to the head.

The man was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital, while the woman was transported by ambulance with less serious injuries, according to the sheriff’s office. There is no word on their conditions.

Investigators at this time believe the incident may have been a domestic dispute between the mother and son. Charges are expected “over the next few days,” the sheriff’s office stated.
