Most of the roadways in the Huntsville area are passable following Wednesday morning’s light snowfall.

A portion of Bankhead Parkway from Gaslight Way to Fearn Street had been closed because of icy conditions. but is now open.

“Everything is currently open; however, when driving still take your time watch out for slick spots as long as you drive with due regard for the weather you will be fine,” Huntsville Police Sgt. Chris Jackson told AL.com.

Police said the Public Works Department was treating certain areas such as westbound Interstate 565 as it turns into U.S. 72, Memorial Parkway at University Drive and Sparkman Drive overpasses, Pulaski Pike north of Winchester Road, Bankhead Parkway at Toll Gate and Fearn Street, elevated sections and overpasses on I-565 and the Greenbriar and Mooresville bridge overpasses.

Drivers are advised to exercise caution and allow extra time when traveling today, police said.

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department and the Decatur Police Department were reporting most roads were in good shape there, with county deputies reporting some slick spots.

Several roads in Lauderdale County were covered with snow and ice, the sheriff’s department reported. It said crews there were working to clear streets and roadways.

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Department was not listing any road closings, but urged motorists to be cautious.
