More than 300,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees recalled, rear coil springs cited

More than 331,000 Chrysler Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles are being recalled because due to rear coil springs.

According to officials, the coil springs may have been incorrectly installed. The result could lead to the springs detaching while driving, per officials.

The recall includes certain 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L SUVs, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a news release Monday.

“Rear coil springs that detach from the vehicle while driving increases the risk of a crash,” the NHTSA stated. “Dealers will inspect and if necessary, repair the rear coil spring assemblies, free of charge.”

Chrysler will mail notification letters to owners of these vehicles by July 28, 2023.
