More than 20 Dairy queens have closed in this state
A dozen Dairy Queen locations have closed in Texas, months after the ice cream chain closed 25 locations in February.
According to multiple outlets, the ice cream chain closed 12 locations in 7 cities.
All locations are owned by the same franchise owner, reports KETK.
The Austin -American Statesman reports the locations are closing amid lawsuits over remodeling and royalty payments.
In 2024, the American Dairy Queen Corporation threatened to terminate the franchise rights of Project Lonestar, Inc, the owner of 38 franchise locations in Texas, if they did not remodel the locations, reported KETK.
In January, American Dairy Queen notified Project Lonestart that it terminated 25 franchises. The corporation also ordered a shutdown from suppliers, halting all shipments of food and other materials to the remaining locations, according to RetailWire.
