More storms possible Monday in south Alabama

More strong to severe storms will be possible on Monday for the southern and eastern part of Alabama.

NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has a Level 2 out of 5 risk for south Alabama today, which means that scattered severe storms will be possible.

Areas farther north — into south-central and east-central Alabama — have a Level 1 risk and could see isolated severe storms.

There is no severe risk for north Alabama today, but rain and storms will continue to be possible there as well.

The threat for severe weather will continue into Tuesday for south Alabama, but then could the severe weather streak come to an end?

It’s possible. The Storm Prediction Center does not have Alabama included in its severe weather outlook for Wednesday, so there’s a chance.

Alabama has had severe weather in its forecast every day for more than a week now. Last week’s weather has resulted in five confirmed tornadoes, hundreds of reports of downed trees and hail, and power outages.

Overnight storms added to the downed tree count in Alabama, but no major damage or injuries have been reported so far.

Strong to severe storms continued to roll across the southern part of Alabama as of Monday morning, and another round will be possible later this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Damaging winds, hail and heavy rain will be possible with today’s storms. The weather service also said that a tornado will be possible in south Alabama.

This morning’s storms are expected to exit to the southeast, and there could be a brief lull in activity before another wave of rain and storms develops and moves from west to east across the state this afternoon, generally from noon through tonight.

Then more storms will be possible on Tuesday, mainly Tuesday afternoon an evening, for extreme south Alabama. The Storm Prediction Center has added a Level 2 risk for extreme southwest Alabama and a Level 1 risk for far south Alabama for Tuesday:

Rain and storms will be possible in Alabama on Tuesday, but the threat for severe weather will be confined closer to the coast.

Rain and storms will continue to be possible in Alabama on Wednesday, but so far the mention of severe weather is not in the forecast for Alabama.

Expect rain chances to linger through the rest of the week, however.
