More isolated severe storms possible Tuesday in Alabama
More isolated severe storms will be possible today in parts of Alabama, according to forecasters.
NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has expanded a Level 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather today to include all of north Alabama and the northern part of central Alabama.
A Level 1 risk means isolated severe storms will be possible.
The strongest storms today could generate wind gusts strong enough to take down tree limbs and power lines — as some did on Monday in parts of Alabama. Hail will also be possible (also seen on Monday) as well as heavy rain.
Rain and storms will also be possible in the rest of Alabama today, but no widespread severe weather is expected.
The most likely time for storms today will be during the afternoon and into the evening hours, roughly from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
More scattered rain and storms will again be possible on Wednesday, but the weather service expects coverage to be less than what’s expected today. So far Alabama is not included in a severe weather risk for Wednesday.
Slightly cooler temperatures are expected through the rest of the work week.
