The Montgomery Police Department is conducting a Homicide Investigation following the death of Kiyunte Townsend, 25, of Montgomery.

On Saturday, February 25, 2023, at about 10:45 p.m., Montgomery Police Department and fire department paramedics responded to the area of Collinwood Drive and West Woodland Drive in reference to the report of a person having been shot, according to a statement from the Montgomery Police Department. Police found Townsend, who had sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound. Townsend was transported to a local hospital for treatment where he was pronounced dead.

An adult female victim, who sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, was also located at a local hospital, according to the statement. It was determined that the offense occurred in the same area.

The circumstances surrounding this shooting remain under investigation, according to the police statement. No additional information is available for release in connection to this continuing investigation, officials stated.
