Montgomery man who allegedly fired on officers charged with attempted murder

A Montgomery man is facing three counts of attempted murder after he allegedly fired at police officers during a pursuit early Thursday evening, according to court records filed Friday.

Lorenzo Monta, 37, was a passenger in a stolen vehicle when he allegedly fired multiple shots at patrol officers pursuing the vehicle in Montgomery around 6:35 p.m. Thursday, according to the complaint filed in the case in Montgomery County District Court.

The chase ended at Glade Park Drive and Hilda Drive in Montgomery when Monta and the driver ditched the stolen vehicle, according to the complaint.

Monta was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit.

Patrol officers found a stolen gun in Monta’s right pocket, according to the complaint, and shell casings were found that matched the firearm.

Monta is charged with three counts of attempted murder in connection with the incident.
