Montgomery homicide suspect captured in Kentucky, authorities say

A suspect in the September death of a 29-year-old man in Montgomery was captured Thursday in Kentucky, police said.

The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force apprehended Javorski Barnes, 35, of Montgomery, said Montgomery police Maj. Saba Coleman.

Barnes is a suspect in the Sept. 27 homicide of 29-year-old Dredrick Stokes.

Montgomery police issued a nationwide murder warrant after Stokes’ death.

Barnes is awaiting extradition to Montgomery, Coleman said.

Further information was unavailable, police said, because the investigation was ongoing.
