An inmate at the Montgomery County Detention Facility died Thursday night.

Medical staff at the jail was called to the booking area about 10 p.m. on a report of an inmate experience a serious medical condition, according to sheriff’s officials.

Montgomery Fire and Rescue Service also responded to the jail to render care. Efforts to resuscitate the inmate were unsuccessful.

The inmate’s identity has not been released.

The Alabama State Bureau of Investigation responded to the facility and are conducting a death investigation.
