Even as the Port City’s economic engine drives job growth, Mobile continues to have the highest unemployment rate of all metro areas in Alabama.

Mobile County’s unemployment rate was 4.4% in February, according to the most recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Though that’s a slight dip from 4.5% in January, it’s a spike from the previous year when the rate was 3.1%.
