Mobile worker pepper sprayed while confronting robber, police say
A worker at an AT&T store in Mobile was pepper sprayed as she confronted one of two robbers who were stealing phones from the business Tuesday morning, police said Wednesday.
Mobile police responded to a robbery complaint at the store at 3730 Airport Blvd. around 9:54 a.m. Tuesday, said Cpl. Katrina Frazier.
Officers learned two male suspects entered the AT&T store under the pretense of making a purchased.
One of the suspects asked to use the bathroom when both suspects gained access to a storage area at the back of the building, Frazier said.
As the store employee confronted one of the suspects, the suspect pepper sprayed her.
The suspects then fled the store with the stolen phones.
The employee received treatment for her injures. The severity of her injuries was unclear.
The investigation was ongoing as of Wednesday, police said.
