Mobile woman killed when motorcycle hits concrete culvert

A 44-year-old Mobile woman died when the motorcycle she was driving left the roadway and struck a concrete culvert.

Mobile police said the accident occurred Friday afternoon about 4:20 p.m. on Schillinger Road. The woman, identified as Lydia Woods, was traveling south on Schillinger when she crossed Cottage Hill Road, losing control and leaving the roadway before striking the culvert.

Police say the accident remains under investigation.

Woods was a graduate of Citronelle High School and a devout Auburn Tigers fan, according to her social media profile. Her daughter, Samantha Woods, has organized a candlelight vigil at the crash site for Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
