Mobile shooting leaves 1 dead, 1 injured; suspect in custody

Mobile police say a 67-year-old man is in custody after a Friday night shooting that killed one man and injured another.

Officers responded to a shooting in the 9000 block of Lundy Lane at approximately 11 p.m. Friday. According to a release from the department, officers discovered two victims with gunshot wounds who were transported to a local hospital. One of the victims, Cory Evans, 47, died from his injuries.

Police say officers identified and located a suspect, Alfred Johnson, 67, and transferred him to Metro Jail. Jail records show Johnson is charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.

Police said Sunday the homicide investigation is still active and no further details would be disclosed at this time.
