Mobile police investigating public park shootout that sent people running for safety
The Mobile Police Department is investigating a shootout at a public park Tuesday afternoon.
According to the department, officers responded to Langan Park at about 4:33 p.m. after receiving a call that shots were fired.
Responding officers found three vehicles, one of which was occupied, were struck by gunshots.
Although there were several families and individuals at the park, no one was injured, according to the police.
According to FOX10News, two groups were shooting at each other.
One witness was at the park with her son and once she heard gunshots she immediately grabbed the child and took cover.
“We heard a shot… And so we turned and looked to see what direction it was coming from and we heard multiple shots probably 20 plus shots that sounded like an automatic and so I grabbed my son and we ran and got in the ditch,” the witness told the news station.
The witness also said that due to the gun violence she no longer felt safe bringing her family back to the park.
MPD said it would release more information once it becomes available.
