Officers with the Mobile Police Department have identified a man killed at an apartment complex as Jermaine Thomas, 25.

According to a police report, officers responded to the Stone Ridge Apartments at 1200 Somerby Drive on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at approximately 10:58 a.m., in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival, the officers discovered Thomas deceased from a gunshot wound inside of an apartment unit.

Upon further investigation, officers discovered Thomas forced his way into the unit to confront a known individual when a second individual inside of the unit shot him.

At this time, officers are still searching for the shooter.

As of Sunday evening, the Mobile Police Department says this investigation is still active and no further information will be released.
