Mobile kids dance recital shooting leaves 1 dead, 1 jailed: Gunfire at Saenger Theatre sparks outrage

A shooting inside a historic downtown Mobile theater left one person dead, a 27-year-old man booked on a murder charge, and outrage across social media.

The shooting occurred sometime around 6:30 p.m., abruptly ended a children’s dance recital and sparked chaos inside the theater.

According to the Mobile County Sheriff’s jail log, Marcus Sanders was booked Sunday on charges of murder, assault 1st degree and speeding.

WKRG-TV is reporting that Sanders was the shooter inside the theater, and that one of the two people shot had died.

Mobile police have yet to release any updated information. More details are expected to be released later this morning.

The shooting is sparking outrage among politicians and mayoral candidates on social media.
