Mobile hits 103 degrees, just shy of all-time record
Mobile came two degrees short of its hottest temperature on record on Wednesday. But it still was a record for the day.
The National Weather Service said Mobile’s high temperature on Wednesday was 103 degrees, which is a record for Aug. 23. The old record was 99 degrees, and it had been standing since 1924.

It was hot across the rest of Alabama on Wednesday, but not record hot for any other major city, according to weather service data.

- Anniston: 97 degrees
- Birmingham: 97 degrees
- Montgomery: 98 degrees
- Troy: 101 degrees
- Tuscaloosa: 100 degrees
