Mobile County reportedly investigating after a deputy shoots someone
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting by a deputy near Maple Drive and Cottager Hill Road Friday afternoon, WPMI is reporting.
MCSO’s Paul Burch told the television station deputies were attempting to serve multiple warrants on a suspect who fled into a backyard, where he produced a handgun and aimed it in the direction of deputies.
At least one deputy fired, with one round striking the suspect. Another round went through a privacy fence and struck a vehicle, causing broken glass to strike a woman near the vehicle. The woman was transported from the scene with minor injuries.
There was no immediate word on the condition of the suspect. A call to MCSO’s Public Affairs Office went unanswered.
This is the second shooting by a deputy in south Alabama in less than 24 hours. Thursday, a Baldwin County deputy shot and killed a suspect who reportedly charged the deputy with a knife.
