Mobile County officials are edging closer to constructing a “civil rights and cultural heritage” district around Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue in Mobile, with consultants providing a “sneak peek” of what could be included in a master plan for the area at a meeting Monday night.

“This is one of the greatest things that I could imagine happening for our city, let alone our neighborhood,” Alvin Lovett, a resident of the area said during the meeting.
