Mobile County corrections officer charged with trafficking fentanyl

A Mobile County corrections officer is now an inmate at the very jail where she worked after being charged with trafficking fentanyl, as well as attempting to pass contraband and drugs inside the Mobile Metro Jail.

Jessica Monique Odom, 32, was taken into custody Thursday by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office. She was hired as a corrections officer for the MCSO in July 2020.

“We will continue to arrest those who are selling and trafficking drugs in our community and that includes the jail,” Sheriff Paul Burch said in a release. “I don’t care if you are a corrections officer, deputy, inmate or drug dealer on the streets, you will be arrested and charged accordingly.”

Odom, a Mobile resident, remained in Mobile Metro Jail as of midday Thursday, held without bond pending an initial court appearance Sept. 1.
