Mobile, Baldwin County Catholic schools closing due to Tropical Storm Francine
As Tropical Storm Francine enters the Gulf of Mexico and threatens Mobile County with severe weather some schools are already announcing closures for Wednesday, Sept. 11.
According to the National Hurricane Center Francine is expected to make landfall in Louisiana Wednesday morning as a Category 2 hurricane. Mobile is currently expected to receive heavy rainfall, high speed winds, tornado threats and coastal flooding. However, much of this impact is not expected to occur until Thursday currently.
The National Weather Service in Mobile is monitoring Francine’s movement closely because of the possibility it can move eastward further into Alabama. Because of the risk of inclement weather certain schools in the Mobile area have already announced they will be closed on Wednesday.
