Mobile-area stocks end up on losing side
The hits kept coming on our Mobile and Alabama Stock Report, but at least there were a few gains Wednesday to counter the losses.
Target, the owner of Birmingham-based Shipt, led the gainers at 3%. U.S. Steel was up 1.4%. Johnson Controls, which has the world’s largest portfolio of building technology, software and services, rose .3%. It has facilities throughout Alabama, including Mobile, Birmingham and Huntsville.
Mobile-based Computer Programs and Systems led the decliners at 4.4% to drop to a 52-week low of $18.42 a share.
ArcelorMittal (2.9%), Community Health Systems (2.6%), Amazon (1.9%) and Enviva (.6%) all found themselves on the losing side.
Overall, Wall Street weakened Wednesday to worsen what’s already been a messy August.
