According to an AHSAA release, Chickasaw self-reported that it played an ineligible player in violation of the AHSAA academic rule.

As a result, the Chieftains will forfeit the eight wins the player participated in and the program will be fined. One of those wins came in the Area 1 tournament.

Chickasaw finished as runner-up to St. Luke’s in the tournament, earning a spot in the subregional round. The Chieftains were to play at Area 4 champ Highland Home.

The Flying Squadron now advances to the Class 2A South Regional.

Chickasaw lost the area championship game 50-49 to St. Luke’s on Friday when the Wildcats’ Kam Chambers sank the first of two free-throw attempts with only 2.1 seconds left to play. The Chieftains led by as many as 12 earlier in the game.

The loss dropped Chickasaw’s record to 11-6 at the time.
