Mixed-use development on Singing River Trail opens in Madison
A mixed-use community anchored by a luxury apartment complex and incorporating retail as well as Madison’s first live/work units has opened near Interstate 565.
The Dempsey features 290 apartment units and is designed to be a walkable community over its 13 acres that are also on the Singing River Trail. It’s also less than a mile from the sprawling Town Madison development.
Novare Group and Batson-Cook Development Company, both based in Atlanta, are the developers of the project described in Wednesday’s announcement as offering a “balance of new construction, historic charm and unparalleled entertainment options to its residents.”
“Novare Group and our partner BCDC have designed The Dempsey to be inviting and inspiring,” Novare Group President and CEO Jim Borders said in the announcement. “We are thrilled to welcome our first residents to this comfortable and convenient community near the heart of Madison.”
The development is located at 375 Lime Quarry Road, adjacent to Madison Golf Center.
“Madison is a great place to live, with a thriving economy, great schools and major cutting-edge employers,” Litt Glover, BCDC President, said in the announcement. “Jim Borders and his team at Novare Group know how to deliver market-leading communities, and we are excited about the opening of The Dempsey.”
The development has 5,000 square feet allotted for retail.
The first retail tenant is HOTWORX, a fitness studio opening its first Alabama location north of Birmingham. The studio offers programs inside an infrared sauna.
The apartments are a mixture of studios, one- and two-bedroom floor plans with Whirlpool stainless steel appliances as well as washers and dryers and granite countertops. It also includes a resort-style pool and a fitness center with yoga and spin room. There is also a private co-working lounge with conference rooms.
