Mississippi woman run over by car she jumped from to avoid gunfire

An altercation between two women in Mississippi led to gunfire, with one woman jumping out of her own moving vehicle — with children inside — and then being run over by her own car.

The Sun Herald reports that Gulfport police responded to a report of a shooting on Monday about 5:19 p.m.

Officers found a woman suffering injuries after being hit by a vehicle.

Investigators learned the woman and another woman — identified as 22-year-old Labrittani Keaira Watts —had been in a fight.

Then, when the woman, with her three children, attempted to leave her home in her vehicle, Watts shot at the vehicle multiple times, according to the report.

The woman jumped out of her moving vehicle in an attempt to escape the gunfire, and was run over by the car.

Watts ran from the scene, according to police, but was later apprehended. She is charged with one count of aggravated domestic assault and three counts of aggravated assault.

Watts is held at the Harrison County Jail. Bond was set at $400,000, but the authorities said she will be unable to get out on bail as there are felony warrants for her arrest in Biloxi and Mobile, as well.
