Mississippi man arrested for shooting 4, including police officer, at Biloxi’s Black Spring Break

The suspect in a shooting during Black Spring Break in Biloxi last month is now in custody, Biloxi police said Thursday.

Dontavis Omar Magee, 22, of Gulfport was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals in Collins, Miss., assisted by the Covington County Sheriff’s Office. He has since been transported back to Biloxi.

Magee is accused of firing the shots which struck four people, including a Biloxi police officer, on April 16 — the final day of the annual Black Spring Break in Biloxi. The shootings took place on Beach Boulevard (U.S. 90) which runs along the beachfront in Harrison County.

All four victims were taken to area hospitals for treatment and have since been released.

Once returned to Biloxi, Magee was booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center on three counts of aggravated assault and one count of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

Harrison County Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain set bond at $2.25 million, but Magee is ineligible to post bond, as he is wanted for armed robbery and kidnapping in Cobb County, Ga.
