Mississippi coast murder suspect arrested in Mobile

Just three days after the suspect in a mass shooting in Ocean Springs was arrested in Mobile, another Mississippi coast murder suspect was taken into custody in Mobile.

Mobile County deputies arrested 27-year-old Thomas Guy Rogers at a residence in Mobile Friday. He is being held at the Mobile Metro Jail awaiting extradition back to Mississippi, according to the Gautier (Miss.) Police Department.

Police responded to a report of a shooting on April 3 at a gas station on Ladnier Road in Gautier about 3:20 p.m. Officers arriving at the scene found 20-year-old Maurice Shannon dead from gunshot wounds.

On May 5, Lesha Fairley of Gautier was taken into custody and charged as an accessory after the fact. Detectives believe Fairley and Rogers were dating at the time of the shooting.

Gautier police were assisted by the FBI, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Brookhaven Police Department and the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit.
