Missile Defense Agency asking contractors for ideas to build Trump’s ‘Iron Dome’

The Pentagon agency charged with responding to emerging missile threats is asking the defense industry for ideas on how to implement President Donald Trump’s call for an “Iron Dome for America.”

Trump’s January executive order gave the Pentagon two months to submit guidelines for, “Defense against ballistic, hypersonic, advanced cruise missiles, and other next-generation aerial attacks from peer, near-peer, and rogue adversaries.”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has until March 28 to submit “a reference architecture, capabilities-based requirements, and an implementation plan for the next-generation missile defense shield,” according to the executive order.
