Minimal gains dominate Birmingham stock report

Gainers outnumbered decliners Monday on our Birmingham and Alabama Stock Report, but the gawdiest number was definitely on the negative side.

Community Health Systems experienced a 10.8% drop. The Franklin, Tennessee-based company has six locations in Alabama: Birmingham, Dothan, Enterprise, Foley, Gadsden and Huntsville.

On the plus side, minimal gains dominated. Warrior Met Coal led the pack at 3.1% and Boeing increased 3%.

Birmingham-based Encompass Health saw a 2% gain, while Amazon rose 1.9%.

Overall, Stocks climbed Monday as Wall Street’s big rally for the year kicked back into gear following a brief hiccup.

The S&P 500 rose 40.41, or 0.9%, to 4,518.44 and recovered more than a third of its loss from last week. That was its first losing week in four and just its third in the last 12.
